Meditation

Many clients can benefit from establishing a daily meditation practice. Think about it. If you really want to be happy, how can you expect to get that way without working at it? . By investing 30-45 minutes a day to be still and allow yourself to go beyond your ordinary thoughts, you can begin to understand what it means to be peaceful.

There are many different kinds of meditation practices. In my office I have a biofeedback system that enables my clients to get introduced to the kind of breathing and mindfulness necessary for meditation. Clients often have some kind of practice that can be extended to become meditation, like walking the dog, running, or listening to music. I help my clients use what they already know and have established to find a way to experience peacefulness everyday.

I have found that a consistent meditation brings lasting changes in emotions and consciousness that enable one to find personal happiness, and to bring happiness to others. Clients who have committed to practicing daily have found similar rewards.

Psychotherapy is helpful in identifying habits that tend to get in the way of regular meditation practice. In addition, there are sometimes traumatic events in a client's past that must be deactivated before they can be calm. Therefore, psychotherapy can accellerate the process of establishing a practice.
